Wim Wenders is one of my favorite filmmakers. His work is quirky, thoughtful, beautiful, and especially appealing to Americans for its exploration of the German-American cultural relationship. In his 1976 film Im Lauf der Zeit (IN THE COURSE OF TIME or KINGS OF THE ROAD), one German character remarks that the Americans “have colonized our subconscious.”
Since the late ’60s Wenders has been involved in dozens of films, notably working with the late Dennis Hopper in THE AMERICAN FRIEND.
Wenders’ best known film Der Himmel über Berlin (WINGS OF DESIRE) features inspiring visuals like the image above. This beauty looks to be presents in PINA as well.
